TWO MORE REASONS FOR CHANGING
THE "REPRESENTATIVE" POLITICAL
SYSTEM OF THE U.S. REPUBLIC INTO
A DIRECT DEMOCRACY!

All my past blogs advocated changing the American "representative" democracy to a true participatory democracy, but in hindsight, I realize that most were written in response to printed articles or to current events. This blog offers two historic and relevant reasons that should validate your participation in changing the American System

Reason One: for thousands of years commoners have accepted hierarchical, patriarchal top-down governments as normal and inevitable. But, it's not so.

commoner: - a citizen without wealth, rank, or title. Usually one who labors or "works" to exist.
hierarchical: - rule of a small minority group of elite citizens at the top of the social ladder.
patriarchal: - male dominated.
top-down government: - a political system ruled by the small group at the top of the social structure, normally wealthy and influential people who utilize the powers of government to force everyone else to obey their rules and their laws, by their police their military, their agencies of taxation, and their control of the mass media, thus influencing public opinion.

Commoners have lived with hierarchical governments for such a long period of time they've developed life-long habits of obedience and subservience to authority—even when the authority is corrupt or evil.

Also for thousands of years—by tradition—these hierarchical governments have been exclusively male dominated—patriarchal. Oh, there have been a few exceptions, such as the Amazons: a tribe dominated and ruled by women, and there have been nations, or areas, temporarily ruled by women, such as Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria of England, Mary, Queen of Scots, Cleopatra of Egypt, and Zenobia, Queen of Palmyra, but on the whole, humanity has been ruled by males.

So for thousands upon thousands of years commoners of most societies have allowed a minority of elite males to "establish" the course of their society's development. In essence, by excluding women from rule, males have established the course of human development. But males are the more insecure, volatile half of the human species, and females the more nurturing and calming half. It's why humanity has suffered war of one kind or another throughout recorded history, and commoners have suffered slavery, poverty and hunger equally as long.

It's, therefore, an unquestionable truth that as long as females are excluded from occupying their natural position in the halls of power, or when in power—are expected to think and behave like males—the species will behave like a couple in a canoe with only the male paddling his side and the canoe forever going in circles. Consequently, there will be only destruction, and never peace or true progress of the human species on Earth. And eventually, the species will self-destruct, or create a very difficult and unpleasant environment in which to live.

History, also, tells us that at various places and at various times, men and women have tried to escape oppressive, or evil, governments and religions. It's why over the past four hundred years millions have fled the kingdoms and religions of Europe and come to the Americas.

But since the middle of the nineteenth century, the empire-building elements of the U.S. society have been programming ordinary U.S. citizens to blindly accept the slow, but deliberate, political movement toward authoritative government restrictions of thought and behavior. Just like those from which their ancestors fled.

Allowing some Americans to bring religion into government, has revealed the ignorance of the American masses. People have forgotten—or never thought about—the truth that only since removing the restrictive shackles of thought and behavior imposed by abusive dynastic and religious powers have science and technology been able to offer the wondrous "things" that make living so much easier and pleasant.

Habits of obedience and timidity is why we, 21st century Americans, so easily accepted and endured both oppressive Bush Jr. Administrations, knowing the first was stolen by an illegal act of the Supreme Court and the second, probably, stolen by criminal manipulations at the voting booths. Ignorance of the republic's true history didn't help the situation.

Reason Two for Changing our "representative to a "true" democracy is "human ignorance of many truths." This goes hand and hand with Reason One: they are inseparable. Together, acceptance of hierarchical governments and massive ignorance of truths relevant to life are largely responsible for the human condition today, including the current international economic disaster.

Reason Two includes my theory of why, after thousands of years, the masses of people, including Americans, are still primitive: still superstitious, still emotionally unstable, and still ignorant of what they really are, as opposed to what they think they are, therefore, still unable to change their lives for the better.

The theory revolves around the human brain; the unique instrument that separates people from all other Earth life, allowing them to dominate all others. The accomplishments of the species have caused humans to believe in their superiority over all others. But most people have accomplished nothing with their lives, and until recent times, individuals, and not groups, have contributed the greatest inventions, imaginative theories, most breast-stirring music, poetry, literature, and art. Yet "people," collectively and smugly, bask in the glory of human accomplishments to which they haven't contributed.

The truth is billions of people don't develop and don't use the full potential of the human brain. Bodies mature and grow old, but brains remain immature and grow only tired. It's why throughout history there have been so many references to the "childish masses."

But the masses remain childish and ignorant—because the elite few that have always ruled—fear the education of commoners, for an educated person doesn't easily accept slavery or servitude to another. Nor will he, or she, easily accept a subordinate social position.

It's why, for thousands of years, only children of the rich received an education, and why children of the poor and the enslaved had little expectations of "education." It's why wealthy Americans fought the creation of public schools, not wanting the children of common workers to compete in the marketplace with them, or their children. It's why organized religions in the republic, also, rejected the concept of public schools, fearing loss of religious school enrollments, and the spread of ideas contrary to religious dogma.

It's why, for more than two hundred years, some of these self-centered American elites have recklessly, and stupidly, been destroying the planet that nourishes us all, while most commoners who care are too ignorant or helpless to do anything about the situation—or too respectful of authority. After all the years of corrupt and oppressive rule, current generations of American commoners still do little of consequence to better their condition or to stabilize the planet's health. Their ignorance, timidity and fruitless actions have become a huge part of the problem.

The solution is to give every commoner child an essential education. An education that offers only truths relevant to life; truths that explain why poverty still exists in this land of abundance; truths that explain why working Americans must still fight to receive a respectable living wage; truths that explain why some Americans have the power to start wars and send the children of other Americans off to die in these wars that most other Americans believe unwarranted and they don't want to fight.

There's much more to the topic of essential education and human maturity, but this is not the place for it. The Institute webstore offers two books—available nowhere else—that fully explain what has been happening to the U.S. republic since 1945 and why the American form of "representative" government should be changed to a true democracy as soon as humanly possible.

Why not join with the Institute and help us make the change?
