BUT, WHAT IS A
TERRORIST? The unexpected has happened: the U.S. has been attacked by unknown assailants and the unelected president and his gang have declared a universal war, not only against the assailants, but against "terrorism" and those countries which harbor terrorists. It's an insane idea, like being bitten by a flea and embarking upon a crusade to kill all the fleas in the world by destroying all natural environments on planet Earth that nourish fleas. "Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists," said the unelected president during a speech to Congress, reducing the country's options to black or white-to war, or not to war. "I will not relent in waging this struggle for the freedom and security of the American people," he said. By definition, the term terrorize is to "fill with terror, dominate, coerce, or subdue by terror, or intimidation." By definition a terrorist is "one who terrorizes." Without a doubt, the people of the United States have been terrorized by the September 11th horror. The immediate transformation in both personal and government values and priorities: the cancellation of flight plans, the increased security measures at federal buildings and airports, the passive acceptance by the public of new laws giving government agencies increased spying rights, the shifting of available funds from social to "security" programs, all of these are the consequences of a massive explosion of fear. Curiously, "terrorism" seems to be happening all over planet Earth where U.S.
business interests are rooted, or would like to take root.
The Administration's "War on Terrorism" is an act of futility. Not that terrorism against the U.S. can't be reduced, or eliminated, But, it will never happen merely to further the cause of profit, or if American government agencies and corporate conglomerates continue to aid to in the oppression of the people in undeveloped nations. For the past half dozen years we have heard warning alerts of terrorism from Washington. Our unelected president has now sworn a war on all terrorists, everywhere. But, does that threat include American terrorists? If so, when will American military forces quash America's own heavily armed right-wing militant groups? Why weren't they hunted down as "terrorists" when one of their members bombed the Murrah federal building in Oklahoma that killed hundreds of people—including children? After all, these groups are openly anti-Establishment and vigorously train with deadly weapons for the "inevitable" conflict with Washington. What about the religious zealots of Christianity who intimidate abortion clinics and kill doctors performing abortions? Are these not bonafide "terrorists"? Why do our political representatives still allow these people to intimidate and murder? Why are we not planning to condemn or attack all Christian churches? After all, it is Christian dogma they spout when they kill abortion doctors. In this respect, are Christian teachings any less inflammatory than those of Islamic mullahs who preach against all non-Islamic ideas? Isn't it possible that the attack on the World Trade Center towers and the invasion of Afghanistan have more to do with the Taliban's rejection of U.S. proposals to build a pipeline from the Caspian Sea areas through Afghanistan than revenge for the Twin Towers horror? Couldn't the atrocity of September 11th be the excuse, but not the reason, for our military presence in Afghanistan and the removal of the Taliban? Considering that our unelected president and his Administration are heavily involved with the oil industry, isn't it a possibility worth investigating? Maybe the need of Republican's to have a friendly presence in the White House when the Twin Towers attack occurred is the reason Republicans behaved so unethically during the 2000 election, and although they lost the election, they stole it. After all, the Republicans did brazenly steal a presidential election once before. In 1876, Americans, tired of Republican rule, gave the Democratic candidate both the electoral and popular votes. Republicans, however, demanded a recount of votes in three southern states—all controlled by Republican carpetbag governments. Upon recount, the Republican candidate miraculously won all three states—and the presidency. Before we allow our unelected president and his gang to war on another nation, shouldn't we hold a public forum to give common Americans the chance to decide if we want to be the planet's policemen? This man and his advisors, have bullied the rulers of Pakistan to allow American troops to use Pakistani soil—another Islamic country—as a base from which to launch air attacks against Afghanistan. Needless to say, the majority of Muslims in Pakistan and Afghanistan are angered with their leaders who place political expediency above religious requirements. The last thing needed now on planet Earth is a religious war between the Islamic and Christian worlds, for even though all wars are insane, history teaches us that war motivated by religious zealotry is the most insane. But that is the path down which our rulers take us today. If, however, the U.S. government truly is the government of the people, shouldn't we,
the people, be the ones to decide the path to our future? Shouldn't we have a say in whether, or not,
we wish to be embroiled in a non-winnable, never-ending war against this shadowy abstraction called
"terrorism?"
